Progressive National Baptist Convention Social Justice Commission Statement from Mid-Winter Board Meeting 2019

PROGRESSIVE NATIONAL BAPTIST CONVENTION
SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMISSION

·       The struggle for Social Justice is essential to the core identity of the Progressive National Baptist Convention.  The DC Declaration of October 9, 2018, is the theological foundation of our orientation to the struggle for social justice.
·       The Social Justice Commission recognizes the intersection between culture and the economy in the nexus of forces that constitute black oppression.
·       The Social Justice Commission, in coordination with the National Congress of Black Women, Inc., is encouraging that all PNBC (and her affiliates) withdraw their support from radio stations and their corporate sponsors who further and promote, through their music, self-hatred, violence, criminality, devaluation of life and degradation of black women.
·       The Social Justice Commission recognizes that the on-going rash of police killings of unarmed black people is the manifestation of the systemic evil and a reflection of the deep-rooted presence of toxic racism.
·       The Social Justice Commission calls upon all people of good will to join us in a full and complete divestment from Wells Fargo and/or any of its subsidiaries due to the symbolic and practical relation they have to systemic, corrupt (even demonic), corporate exploitation of the poor and vulnerable citizenship.

We shut down city hall today

Our city is charging residents and churches unfair charges on their water bills. So we had to force our politicians to hear is and to find some solutions.

Remarks by Trump concerning Haitians and Africans

Nazareth would have been considered a "shit-hole."

Stop Thinking Racism Will Stop

Why do we believe that i racism will ever go away.

Do we believe people will stop sinning?

Do we believe murders, prostitution, lying, pride or any other sin will rid us in this world?

If not, why is black folk believing that racism and white supremacy will go away.

The tough question I ask is Dr. King's dream impossible to achieve because that would mean that the sin of racism would be defeated? And has sin, as a system (not individual Deliverance) ever been defeated in history without the destruction of an empire?
